Welcome to the USS Thunderbird!

In 2369, with tensions rising between the Maquis, the Cardassians and the Federation, the USS Thunderbird arrives at Kelvas Junction, a neutral point close to the demilitarized zone. Ambassador Tasat, along with his aide and two heavily armed security officers, arrives to conduct negotiations with Ambassador Oryx of the Federation.

The first meeting immediately becomes contentious. Tasat accuses Federation colonists of sheltering terrorists and destroying infrastructure within Cardassian space while Oryx has evidence that Cardassian patrols have seized medical shipments and relocated civilian populations.

And while both sides argue their points, univited guests are about to express their particular point of view.

An hour later, with an agreed upon number of guards present, the two ambassadors met in the Thunderbird's seldom-used Diplomatic/VIP Conference room which had been immaculately prepared by the ship's Diplomatic Officers. The temperature had been raised somewhat, as a mid-ground between the needs of the two species, and they sat on either side of the table with Tasat to the Captain's right and Oryx to the Captain's left. The two Ambassadors sat across from each other and in Norsgaard's opinion, wisely kept to himself, the tension was almost a palpable thing in the room.

Julie had known there was plenty to do around the ship and had attempted to skip shore leave, but her staff had insisted she take some time off. It seemed they were used to Chiefs who never took time off unless forced to, so they had jokingly threatened to have her security clearance revoked if she didn’t go right now. With preparations underway for the diplomatic mission which lay ahead, Lieutenant MacRae had continued to move between the various departments to assist wherever she was needed the most.
